LFR's Vern Whitaker, March 26-30, 2015:
If you like sun and heat, but didn't make Vern Whitaker, you missed a big adventure. While the usual March temperatures is 77-82 degrees, San Diego had a big heat wave which heated up Borrego Springs for our VW campout.
Many thanks to the 19 members who braved the heat wave to camp Vern Whitaker. The riders and horses enjoyed the creek crossings still flowing, and those who rode the Lower Willows trail, enjoyed the shade and breeze. The evening rides were wonderful, later joined by a bright half moon. We had our usual Saturday potluck with Tri Tip grilled by Steve and Howard.
