BCH Trail Service Weekend at Los Vaqueros, May 4-7, 2017 Four LFR members joined the BCH SD unit for trail work for four days of camping. LFR members Chelleen, Joe, Billi-Jo, and Kammi stayed for the snow.
Update: Nine LFR members represented the equestrian community with their participation on Stowe Trail, joining the mountain bikers, hikers, runners and the USMC. LFR president and members: Barbara Hughes, Sandy Jones, and Jeani Buchanan served as gatekeepers while board members Joyce Jewell, Steve and Cyndi Denny along with Cathy Nelson, Mike Garcia, and Jeanne Abshire helped decommission a illegal trail off the Stowe Trail. We were nicknamed the Pony people. All in good fun. SDMBA provided snacks and lunch for all of us volunteers and Marines, and REI handed out free t-shirts to everyone. The volunteers were joined by Dianne Jacob, the mayors of Santee and Poway, and other public officials and USMC Miramar Commend to officially open Stowe Trail to public access. It was a great day for all trail users who volunteered and for public access for trails. Credit: SDMBA photos taken by Jose Galaz, SDMBA board member and generously donated for this page.
April 1, 2017, Equestrians plan to join mountain bikers, hikers and the USMC to prepare the historic Stowe Trail for multi-use. Tools, water, snacks and lunch will be provided to all volunteers by SDMBA (San Diego Mountain Bikers Association).
